My baby girl is 12 years old today. I've never been one of those parents that make a big deal out of my kids getting older (although joking around happens ;) I have enjoyed them at each stage of their lives.

We are foregoing the big party this year and are instead going to use that money for Noelle and her friend Katlyn to go shopping and out to dinner. I will be chaperoning intense girl time and really looking forward to it =D This won't take place until Thursday.

So today will be low key with just our family, grandma, and grandpa over for cake and sherbet. Oh, and her dad took her out for lunch (always a treat).

Spring?

Yesterday, the last day of Winter, was partly sunny and in the 50s. Today, the first day of Spring, we woke up to snow on the ground. Hhmm....

I guess it would be a good time to start my next craft project. I've been learning about crazy quilting and plan on recycling some old prom/brides maid dresses for that. I also have some books waiting for me. Of course, there's always movies, the internet, and hanging with the kids. So many choices =D

Homeschool Co-op

The kids participated in learning about life during the 1860s. They learned about daily life, civilian artifacts, dancing/etiquette, military drill, school/games, and uniforms/military artifacts.

It wasn't planned for them to dress the part, just worked out that way.

Catching Up

Its been a while since I posted and thought I should let you know what I've been up to.

I used my rice cooker today and boy was it nice to have! I love that the insert is non-stick and removable. I made the rice this morning and then combined it with salsa, black beans, and corn, heated through and sprinkled with cheese, for dinner tonight. So easy and so yummy, but I was told to double the recipe next time.

I've been without a vehicle for three weeks and finally got a 2006 mini van. We did our shopping using the internet. Wow, talk about a huge time and money saver! We ended up driving quite a ways from home to look at vehicles because the prices were $2,000 less than those offered near home. We wouldn't had known about them otherwise.

This is the first "loaded" vehicle I've owned. The kids especially like that it has a DVD player and second row bucket seats. I love the leather heated seats. Kirk likes the stow and go seats for when he borrows my vehicle for work. Sometimes living on one income puts us behind the times (which is fine with me, family comes first) but that explains the excitement about the new to us mini van. Okay, he isn't really excited but is glad the looking is over =D

I'm also out walking again. Our dog used to walk me but I duplicated a popular head collar and now I walk him, lol. The weather has turned cold again but I'm not going to stop walking the dog and he doesn't care what the weather is. We walked in the rain yesterday and a friend told me her dog will want back inside if its raining, lol. Maybe her dog is smarter than me, but, I don't want to stay cooped up anymore because of weather.
